New Life in Him
I wrote this to say what it feels like to accept Jesus and follow Him. It makes me remember why I want "such a life."
Once a person has received Jesus Christ into their life as Lord and Savior, a transformation begins. They don't see the world the same way they used to. The way they think and act and speak start to change in a way that will mirror and glorify Jesus. They are no longer dead, but alive. They have new life in Jesus--a beautiful, free, full life. Who would not want such a life?
Such a life is characterized by joy, peace, love, forgiveness, compassion, faith, patience, and so many more wonderful things that come from Him who is perfect. A person with this life may still grow weak, and be beaten down, and may struggle, and be stressed. "Life is hard." But Jesus gives strength and hope. He allows His own to go through trials, which allows them to grow in the qualities of their new life and learn how to persevere. But He will never abandon His own. Never! Who would not want such a life?
A person with this new life may still fall back into sin---that spirit and the actions that go with it that are against God...the very thing Jesus took the punishment on the cross for. It can hurt their witness for Christ, and hurt their confidence and spirit. And yet, Jesus will forgive them if they come to Him honestly and humbly. He will renew them in the Holy Spirit, molding them again and again if necessary. He loves them too much to give up! Who would not want such a life?
Jesus is humanity's only hope for abundant, eternal life. He stands, waiting for each one to come to Him. He longs to be a part of our lives, and to give us the new life that begins now but lasts forever. Do you have such a life?
